Alternative Storage Devices and directed attached FC devices.

I'm currently setting up ITA, and noticed there is no way to flag a non-standard storage device.  I have in addition to my HDS storage a Datacore iSCSI SAN that is identified as a windows system, and a QNAP I use to store some tier 3 files hosting NFS that I can not self flag as storage devices.  It is nice that I can flag their storage subnet's as storage but for setting up Root Analysis I'll need to be able to move them over.

Also I have a direct attached FC VMhost that is being tracked and the relationship between their connection is not appearing.  Is there a way to establish this or do I need to hook it up through a fabric for this connection to be tracked?

John,

To change the servers, simply go to Settings/Monitored Nodes and "edit" the device.  You have the option of setting servers to Server OR Storage.  When you do this, it will move the servers in to the Storage column.  The problem with doing this, though, is that you will lose visibility of SANsymphony to "its" storage as you can't show connectivity within the same columns in Analyzer.  Just something to think about.

As for the direct attached FC hosts, I think the behavior you're seeing is normal.  Because you have it directly attached, there is no "network" and is simply the same as local DASD from a monitoring perspective.  To show "link" lines, you would need to connect both devices to a fabric.
